Scholarship from Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce

The Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce is offering scholarships to graduating seniors and continuing students in the Susitna Valley High School attendance area. The funds granted may be used for any expenses involved in post secondary education and will be disbursed to the student on proof of enrollment.

Volunteers have been working on the trail for the Oosik ski race to be held here in Talkeetna on March 20, 2010. About 20K of the trail is groomed for classic skiing so far. The trailhead is at the public boat launch next to Swiss Alaska.

Art Made with Recycled Materials: Dallas Wildeve presents “Earth Day Everyday”

Dallas Wildeve brings together a variety of unconventional reclaimed materials to form this collection of quilts, collage, sculpture and wearable art celebrating Earth Day every day. Paper, Tyvek, clothing, fabric, wire, and hangers are a sample of the repurposed materials used to form these works. Clearly, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.

Time to make the moose!

The Talkeetna Artists Guild of Denali Arts Council in partnership with the Talkeetna Historical Society and the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce organize and host the Moose on Parade each year. Even though the Moose Dropping Festival is not taking place in 2010, Moose on Parade is. Moose will go on display in May and will be auctioned on July 4th weekend.
